Title: Used To This
Author: [profile] sundroptea
Characters: Lois/Clark
Length: 1,573 words
Summary: What really happened the night of the engagement party?

I should probably kick off this rec by saying that I am now completely and wholly in love with Smallville, and it is so nice to be able to go crazy in a section of the Clark/Lois fandom where I haven't read nearly all the fic. This particular story won the honor of being my first SV rec by virtue of being a missing scene from "Committed," because omg that episode owns me, except there was another episode I just watched where Clark caught a bullet WITH HIS FINGERTIPS, which is basically too awesome for words. (WITH HIS FINGERTIPS. INCHES FROM OLLIE'S FACE.)

And right! This story! Too cute and absolutely hilarious; the author captures the cadence of Erica Durance's Lois very well. (I particularly enjoy the "Lois, are you decent?" / "Smallville, I am fabulous" exchange.)

Title: Vers
Author: [personal profile] extrasolar
Characters: Clark/Lois
Length: 12,000+ words
Summary: Clark and Lois, finding their way.

This story is so very much not what I was expecting to find when I went hunting for SV fic. There's something of a disconnect between the exposition, which is lyrical and bittersweet, and the dialogue, which rings true to the show, but the author makes it work brilliantly. I found myself liking Lana, too, and even the calm, tensionless way the reveal was handled.

Title: All the While (series)
Author: El Duderino
Characters: Clark/Lois, ensemble
Length: Long (I don't have an exact count, but well past 50,000 words)
Summary: Post-series epic that covers Clark's travels around the world through the aftermath of his battle with Doomsday.

I made the most embarrassing noises while reading this story. Usually I manage to restrain myself and only screech and coo at the show itself, but the writing is just that freaking awesome. This is everything I want out of SV fic: incredible characterization, solid writing, inclusion of plenty of other superheroes, everything from subtle nods to major plot points drawn from the larger Superman mythos, and enough Clark/Lois interaction to fuel a small sun.

The series (and it is a series; the author sets it up so each story can be read individually, but it's much more rewarding to read them all together) takes place in a hypothetical post-show world, and follows the growth of Clark's relationship with Lois and of his career in tights together, right on through (a now AU) battle with Doomsday and beyond. I think I am going to have to go and re-read it again now that I am done; I actually woke up in the middle of my night because I couldn't get back to sleep without finishing the last part.

(I feel like I am getting the hang of reading forum-hosted fic again. Forums seem like the place to post longer SV stories, am I right?)

Title: Free Fall
Author: [personal profile] krysyuy
Characters: Clark/Lois, Justice League
Length: WIP (20,000 words and counting)
Summary: Clark isn’t willing to risk his heart again. But when Fate gives him a glimpse into his future, the only question is – how hard will he fall?

Time travel fic where Clark goes into the future and discovers his relationship with Lois and his future as Superman? Sign me up. This is a fun, rollicking ride that doesn't skimp on humor or dodge the quieter, heavier moments. It is a WIP, but as far as I can tell it's updated regularly, and the author clearly both knows and loves her characters.

You may want to append ?format=light to the end of each chapter's url; the default layout is white (and tiny) text on a dark background.
